About Us

The Hub considers small holder farmers and other actors in different agricultural value chains as equal partners towards realisation of its mission of “Let us Grow Agribusiness.”

We Have One Goal

Empowering Farmers for Sustainable Growth

Mbegu Zetu Farmers’ Agro Hub, is structured and operationalized to bridge the gap of poor agricultural services and inputs in the last mile as a one-stop shop for many of the needs of the rural farmer. Mbegu Zetu Farmers’ Agro Hub is located within the rural sphere and heart of agriculture in Njoro-Nakuru, Kenya.

The Hub considers small holder farmers and other actors in different agricultural value chains as equal partners towards realisation of its mission of “Let us Grow Agribusiness.”

We strive to create opportunities for agribusiness in the last mile to overcome the challenges of poverty and hunger amongst our rural small farm holders.  Mbegu Zetu Farmers’ Agro Hub also endeavors to contribute towards alleviation of negative effects of climate change while sustaining our natural resources, food and agriculture.  This is in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The farmers are reached individually, in groups, and through their cooperatives

  • The hub also serves smaller stockists and agro-dealer shops with advisory services, capacity building and supply of quality farmer inputs,
  • The hub organizes farmer field days and farmers’ agribusiness fairs, which provide a good forum for agriculture stakeholders to bridge the last mile gap as they all come together to interact, to learn, to experience and to make necessary connections

The Problem We Address

Small holder farmers and rural based SMEs continue to support household food security and incomes in developing countries. Although their capacity to grow and transform rural livelihoods into sustainable streams do exist, this has not been fully realised. This is attributable to the fact that, rural agricultural services and inputs providers are faced with many challenges while delivering extension services and reaching to the last-mile.

Weak institutional, management and governance structures in the last mile make logistics expensive and the payoff to business may be small. The last mile in extension delivery is also characterized by a wide range of technical, economic, commercial, social, environmental and climate change related problems that require urgent solutions so that small holder farmers could access quality innovations along the production value chain.

The reach of the small farm households at the last mile with quality services and farm inputs have not been fully realised in Africa. Mbegu Zetu Farmers’ Agro Hub, operating within the rural sphere and heart of Agriculture in Njoro-Nakuru, Kenya, comes in to bridge this gap.

The hub considers small holder farmers and other actors in different agricultural value chains as equal partners towards realisation of its mission of “Let us Grow Agribusiness.” As such, Mbegu Zetu Farmers’ Agro Hub creates relationships rather transactional engagements with farmers seeking its services and inputs.

Through our mission we stive to address poverty and hunger amongst our rural small farm holders in line with the  2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mbegu Zetu Farmers Agro Hub strives to contribute towards addressing challenges that come with climate change and sustaining our natural resources, food and agriculture, which are at the heart of the 2030 Agenda
